Cheshire History.......Beeston Castle

Beeson Castle in Tarporley, Cheshire is also known as the the formidable ‘Castle of the Rock’. Climb to the top of this impressive crag with incredible views over eight counties, from the Pennines to the Welsh mountains. Legend has it that Beeston still guards King Richard II’s lost treasure – maybe your family can find it?

Cheshire History.......Cholmondeley Castle

The romantic castle - a product of the early 19th century - stands on a high rise above a lake. The castle is surrounded by sweeping lawns and a variety of mature trees, including cedars of lebannon, oak, and chestnut.

Largest Cheese Show in the World........Nantwich Show

The Nantwich International Cheese Show celebrated its Centenary in 1997, and has continued to go from strength to strength. It saw its origins as a Cheese Show within the town of Nantwich, and is now staged at Dorfold Park. This is a beautiful parkland setting, situated on the edge of the historical market town of Nantwich, and which once a year becomes the venue for the largest Cheese Show in the world.

Motor Racing......Oulton Park

Built into the natural contours of the Cheshire countryside, Oulton Park's combination of stunning scenery and spectacular racing make it one of the most picturesque and cherished circuits for spectators and competitors alike. Oulton Park has always been popular with fans due to the superb views of the circuit available from the spectator bankings Crowds of up to 35,000 regularly flock to the circuit for the annual round of the British Touring Car Championship.

Garden Centre.................Bridgemere Garden Centre

Britain's largest and most spectacular garden centre, Bridgemere lies on the beautiful borders of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire. Established as a one-man band rose nursery in 1961 by John Ravenscroft (who once lost his entire crop to cold!), Bridgemere now covers 140 acres and is probably the largest garden centre in the world.

Scarecrows........................Wrenbury Scarecrow Trail

Wrenbury Scarecrow Trail and the associated Summer Fayre are now well-established as the high point of the village calendar. Centred on the first full weekend in July, the principal attractions are of course the scarecrows themselves, with around a hundred or more appearing each year. However, the School Summer Fayre on the Saturday and the Car Boot Sale on Sunday provide increasingly varied activities for all age ranges, and a number of other events also take place over the same weekend.
